The Blawan Estate was initially planted by the Dutch in 1894 is an "ecologically friendly environment" with the coffee being shade grown and "bird friendly". Located at the eastern end of Java on the Ijen plateau the volcanic soil and altitude contribute towards the fine coffee we offer.
Roasted to the point where the beans are just 'bout to start sweating. You are going to get a heavy earthy full smokey taste.
Not really a lot to do with the taste but..
In our youth we stayed in a hotel in the Pigalle district of Paris, there was no restaurant/dining room and breakfast was brought to the room on a tray with the coffee being served in a breafast cereal sized bowl.
You could lose a croissant in the bowl and had to be careful not to dive in yourself.
This is that coffee.
